Summary:

The Demand Planner forecasts and creates build plans for product and fixture needs required by R&D for new product development. The objective is to have the product and fixtures at the right time and quantity. The product configurations constantly change as the design evolves which makes procurement of raw materials and builds challenging. The candidate must have a solid understanding of forecasting, build planning and inventory management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Forecasting

    • Develop effective forecast models based on demand patterns

    • Analyze historic build data to create new forecasts

    • Support management with risk buys, assessments and mitigation activities

    • Propose and implement solutions to improve forecast accuracy

    • Address demand related issues in a timely and effective manner

    • Update internal customers on product availability

    • Maintain inventory levels based on future demands

    • Identify opportunities to meet internal customers demands during constrained supply

    • Define internal and vendor production capacity needs to meet demand

    • Identify areas of improvements and recommend action plan

    • Mentor and train Planners as needed



  • Build Planning

    • Create and maintain product and fixture Build Plans

    • Consider lead times of raw materials for planning purposes

    • Track inventory levels to drive timing of future builds

    • Track raw material and part shipments

    • Advise internal customers on available build configurations during the product development cycle

    • Track and resolve non-conforming part issues

    • Host weekly build planning meeting



  • Inventory Management

    • Manage distribution of parts

    • Reallocate inventory as needed to meet unplanned requests

    • Manage inventory based on shelf life of components

    • Manage end of life parts



  • Reporting

    • Report on forecast and build data

    • Report on vendor performance

    • Create metrics and KPIs



Required Qualifications:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in successful forecasting, build planning and inventory management experience

  • Proven understanding of forecasting, build planning and inventory methodologies

  • Proven ability to perform in-depth data analysis and present insights in a clear manner

  • Listens well and seeks input from others

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong initiative, self-driven to deliver results without daily supervision

  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment

  • Strong organizational skills; team building and team leadership skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Visio is required

  • Proficiency in Confluence and JIRA is preferred

Functional Description: Professional Individual Contributor

Coordinates the workflow of parts and products through internal and external manufacturing locations and associated information systems .Establish master schedules, production schedules, labor loading, and capacity requirements. Coordinates production plans to ensure materials are provided according to schedules. Balance inventory objectives with service levels. Participate in/drive the Sales and Operations Planning Process. Collaborate with other supply chain members, engineering, quality, manufacturing and others to optimize product flow, manage change, and launch new products. Works to resolve (in case of design changes) labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions. Ensures compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

  • Having wide-ranging experience and uses professional concepts and knowledge of company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

  • Possesses knowledge of advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.

  • Viewed as expert in the field within the Function.

  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation.

  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.

  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other colleagues.

Experience and Education Requirements:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience.

  • At this level a graduate degree may be desirable with 4 years of related experience.


Workplace Type:
  • The Workplace Type for this role is Assigned Desk. Based on the nature of your role you will have an assigned desk or office located at a Dexcom site and should plan to be onsite approximately 4-5 days per week.
