Summary of Role:

Lead the development of accounting and financial reporting guidance on emerging issues and related advocacy activities for the benefit of CPAs, other finance professionals, and ultimately the public interest, through working closely with senior partners in accounting firms, senior finance executives, various industry and valuation experts, standard setters, and regulators.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• Work with AICPA’s Financial Reporting Executive Committee (FinREC), industry expert panels, and high-profile task forces to identify emerging GAAP accounting, valuation, regulatory, and industry-specific issues (collectively referred to as financial reporting) and develop related implementation guidance.


• Co-lead financial reporting implementation guidance projects with volunteer chairmen.


• Act as an AICPA representative voice to advocate on financial reporting matters for all stakeholders in the capital markets.


• Support other AICPA internal professional teams as a subject matter expert.


• Enhance AICPA relationships with outside organizations, such as standard setters, regulators, professional and industry associations, among others, through engaging them on financial reporting issues of mutual interest.


• Help the AICPA Congressional internal teams and relevant external parties resolve legislative issues related to financial reporting.


• Provide technical and relationship expertise to AICPA conferences.


• Promote AICPA financial reporting message points via public speaking, interviews with news reporters, blog posts, and digital messages.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Strong technical accounting background.


• Collegial and able to work with senior, seasoned professionals.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including technical writing and reviewing


• Strong project management skills while leading multiple highly technical accounting projects simultaneously


• Experience as a self-starter.


• Ability to advocate technical positions on behalf of senior committees and the AICPA


• Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team and leverage additional resources as needed

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting


• 7 – 8 years related experience


• Significant financial reporting experience.


• Certified Public Accountant
