Role Summary:

Cigna Investment Management (CIM) has overall responsibility for the over $30 billion investment portfolio for Cigna, a leading global health and group insurance provider and Fortune 500 company. Its assets are invested in public and private bonds, commercial mortgages, private corporate mezzanine debt and equity, and real estate equity. All CIM employees are supervised persons of a registered investment advisor called Cigna Investments, Inc. ("CII").

This position within CIM will support the investment operations function. The investment operations function has a broad range of responsibilities including the primary responsibility for supporting trade lifecycle management, reconciliation and reporting across a number of asset classes and identifying and mitigating all operational risks.The Investment Operations Lead Analyst is a member of the Analytics, Pricing and Derivatives team, a dynamic and evolving team within the Operations department. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operational support of OTC and exchange traded derivatives, including trade matching, confirmation, daily cash collateralization and settlement and will support the firm in on-going and new investment strategies and programs.This position works closely with associates in numerous teams including Portfolio Management, Trading, Accounting, Legal, Data Management and Corporate Treasury.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • OTC and exchange traded derivatives post trade life-cycle management including trade matching/confirmation, trade settlement and issue resolution

  • Performing daily cash collateral process timely and efficiently working closely with Corporate Treasury

  • Liaising with Legal counsel to assist in negotiations of CSA's and updating of relevant applications as required by Dodd Frank regulations

  • Providing subject matter expertise and assisting in the operational implementation of new derivative trading strategies and hedge programs

  • Understanding and integrating industry best practices for derivative trades processing, including driving automation by assisting in the on-boarding of new applications and enhancements

  • Constantly evaluating and improving existing processes and controls and creating procedures in order to eliminate risk and increase efficiency

  • Working with FCM counterparties to establish derivatives clearing accounts for cleared derivatives trading and set-up of new funds with exchanges

  • Completing periodic Portfolio Management, Accounting, Audit, Sarbanes-Oxley, month-end and exposure reporting and ad hoc requests

  • Updating internal and 3rd party applications and databases for tracking, documentation management, data management and compliance purposes

  • Cross training on pricing and analytics functions and providing back-up coverage as needed


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Management or related field of expertise

  • 5+ years of investment operations experience

  • Expertise in OTC and exchange traded derivatives and corresponding regulations

  • Quick learner with strong technical skills including intermediate Excel skills (pivots, macros, v-lookup, graphs) and systems experience

  • Effective communication, relationship building and issue resolution skills

  • Professional and self-motivated with ability to drive change

  • Knowledge of insurance accounting and financial reporting experience a plus
