Support Underwriting team for International Accident & Health “IAH”, including but not limited to: Reinsurance, Underwriting Operations and Governance
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reinsurance and Cat Management (50%)
Support the field on matters relating to reinsurance treaties and processes & procedures
Support facilitation of reinsurance activities and initiatives working with reinsurance, accounting, finance, claims, legal, and regional offices
Assist with treaty reinsurance renewals, approval submissions, quarterly tracking and exposure monitoring as needed
Compile information from our offices globally and information systems for reinsurance renewal packages
Analyze reinsurance renewal and inception information and provide related recommendations
Provide reinsurance-related administrative support for our Global Accounts program
Provide guidance on IAH reinsurance treaties to reinsurance accounting and work with them on:
Completing reinsurance reports and billings to partners and reinsurance
Completing reinsurance premium adjustments and reconciliation
Investigating variance in reinsurance cessions and provide guidance for corrections
Reviewing large losses
Update and maintain the IAH Global reinsurance summary and other reinsurance related documentation
Engage with reinsurance brokers and reinsurers domestically and internationally
Review and support underwriting referrals which include ceded reinsurance or large catastrophic exposure
Provide guidance to our offices globally on IAH Catastrophe modeling
Coordinate with actuarial, CAT modeling team, and A&H underwriting for A&H DotCat modeling to manage IAH exposure accumulations and to achieve best possible reinsurance terms
Support the catastrophe modeling process including exposure tracking of black swan cat events
Provide feedback and recommendations on catastrophe modeling updates
Provide guidance on the impact of catastrophe modeling on our reinsurance purchasing requirements
Underwriting Operations and Governance (30%)
Supports the Underwriting Audit process within IAH – cycle management/schedule management, audit recommendations, guidelines, training materials
Ensure the quality and timeliness underwriting audit programs
Support on-going revisions and maintenance of underwriting audit system, Athenium
Input audit findings into Athenium and document reports and supporting evidence appropriately
Tracking of audit and file action items and portfolio review action items through to completion
Identify operational efficiencies improvement areas for the audit and reporting processes
Monitor the peer review process and reporting
Support the administration of underwriting authorities and annual delegation and attestation processes
Support the development the IAH Policies, Procedures and UW Bulletins
Update central repositories of products and policy wordings
Log referrals and submissions from the region for documentation and trend analysis
Assist in exploring opportunities to improve referral workflow
Portfolio Management, Account Management, Project Management and Underwriting Support (20%)
Support data management initiatives and conduct data analytics to help improve data capabilities
Provide product development and project management support for multi-region initiatives
Support management of Quarterly Account Management, Portfolio Management and performance monitoring of key accounts and Special Acceptance accounts
Collaborate with a broad range of international colleagues in areas including business development, marketing, Digital/IT, product development, actuarial, underwriting, finance, and operations
Co-ordination and management of ad-hoc underwriting projects where needed, including but not limited to multinational operations, underwriting associate program, technical underwriting, learning and development training modules, reinsurance support
University graduate; masters preferred
5 to 7 years+ of related work experience preferred
3 years+ of A&H Underwriting experience preferred
International experience preferred
Excellent organizational and project management skills, strong initiative and drive
Expertise in underwriting and reinsurance management
Knowledge of insurance concepts, practices and procedures
Strong Initiative and Drive – entrepreneurial spirit is required
Ability to work with people from different cultures and knowledge of foreign languages, desirable but not required e.g. Spanish
Proactive, business-focused, problem solver
Designation in a related field (i.e. CPCU or ARe designations) preferred
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and Windows Software products
Ability to learn third-party systems, web-applications and databases and become proficient

Ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment
