Mine Permitting Specialist




Where will you work: Onsite FishHawk HQ (13830 Circa Crossing | Lithia, FL 33547)


The Mine Permitting Specialist will participate in the planning and preparation of mining permits, permit modifications, annual reports, and other regulatory approvals to meet business objectives. Additional responsibilities will include providing support to Reclamation staff on reclamation design and mitigation standards for preparation of CRPs and Mine Planning staff in determining appropriate preservation areas, infrastructure requirements and permit timing needs.



What you'll do?



  • Participate in communications with municipalities and regulatory agencies as needed to facilitate processing of mine permits and related approvals.


  • Attend meetings with regulatory agencies and public hearings as needed.


  • Provide support to other departments regarding permitting as needed.


  • Participate in permit application preparation and submission.


  • Provides technical expertise in various assessments required by mining permits and problem solving, and technical assistance for permitting projects.


  • Communicates with regulatory agencies and attends public hearings as necessary.


  • Research new and keep current on the rules and requirements of each regulatory agency and/or municipality to facilitate permit processing and expedite completion.


  • Prepare reports as required by county, state and federal agencies.


  • Miscellaneous permitting duties and projects as assigned.





What you'll need:




Required all levels:



  • Bachelor's degree required with a major in biology, environmental science, mining, civil, geological, or environmental engineering.


  • Required understanding of ecological principals of upland and wetland habitats and how these principals can be used in adaptive management to create and design more sustainable habitats.


  • Strong background in ecological assessments of wetland and upland habitats preferred.


  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)


  • Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills.


  • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills.


  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills.


  • Ability to create effective partnerships at all levels of the organization.


  • Strong decision-making skills.


  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.

Mine Permitting Specialist



  • 1+ years of experience in mine and wetland permitting at the county, state, and federal level and/or comparable regulatory, permitting, or related experience.





Senior Mine Permitting Specialist



  • 5+ years of experience in mine and wetland permitting at the county, state, and federal level and/or comparable regulatory, permitting, or related experience.


  • 3+ years of project management experience.


  • Master's degree in biology, environmental science, mining, civil, geological, or environmental engineering preferred.





Bonus if you have the following:



  • Strong background in environmental policy and regulatory affairs.


  • Prior project management experience.
