Summary
Our client is a leading distributor of industrial process control equipment, systems, and services in the southwest region of the US including North, East, and West Texas, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and New Mexico.
This position is for the role of an Industrial Maintenance / Valve Technician who is responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction while testing, inspecting, and repairing Pressure Relief Valves (PRV), Flow Control Valves, Regulators, Electronic Instrumentation, and Electric Actuators for industries such as Power, Oil & Gas, Refining, Chemical, and Food & Beverage.
This position will entail independent field work, work as a member of a larger repair team, and work in a shop.
This individual will be responsible for maintaining a work laptop computer and generating documentation for customers' maintenance records.
This position entails a high degree of customer interaction, and is deeply ingrained in company's sales process; consequently, this position requires good people skills, personal appearance, and a positive attitude at all times.
Experience in the Power, Refining, Chemical or Oil & Gas industry is a plus.
This position will require travel to client sites with many projects requiring multiple overnight stays, weekends, and extended workdays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of valves, pressure relief valves and electric actuators (480v) as well as measurement and valve related instruments. Including, but not limited to:
Assembly of new equipment or repaired equipment.
Documentation of repair / testing / assembly activities - cause of failure, actions taken, parts used, labor hours, etc.
Customer communication - technical assistance, troubleshooting, quoting / determining disposition of repairs.
Participation in field and shop service calls, as required
Disassembly, cleanup, and evaluation of parts
Research and develop required parts list for Insides Sales to quote repair
Sandblast and paint when required
Coordinate repairs based upon requirements from the customer and company scheduling.
Fill out comprehensive repair reports describing the "As Found" condition, recommended repairs, etc.
Recognize, pursue, and secure opportunities to increase the scope of work and products sold whenever possible
Adherence to all safety, quality, company rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Most overtime occurs in the Spring and the Fall (approx. Feb 15-May 15 and Sept. 15-Dec. 1), so available PTO will be limited, if allowed at all, during those times.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Skills and/or Experience:
Technical degree or a minimum of two (2) years "hands on" experience with at least one of the following: Control Valves, Isolation Valves, Safety Relief Valves, Electric Actuators (aka MOV's)
Good Mechanical Intuition
Precision Millwright and/or Electrical background is a significant plus.
Self-motivated and able to thrive without daily direction from supervisor.
Ability to recognize and capitalize on potential business opportunities (Entrepreneurial and Opportunistic)
Ability to thrive in high pressure situations.
Good organizational skills and willingness to complete required paperwork such as repair reports, timesheets, etc.
Excellent Communication and People skills
General competency with computers and specific experience with MS Excel and MS Word are required.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Physical and Mental:
Must be able to walk and/or stand a minimum of 8 hours per day.
Must be able to wear maximum level of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction which may include but is not limited to: hardhat; safety glasses; fire resistant clothing; safety-toed footwear; hearing protection; respiratory protection; etc.
Frequent climbing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. This includes ladders or stairways.
Ability to travel via air and/or ground transportation as requested by company per assignment.
Ability to lift and or move 50 pounds.
Must have hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.
Environmental Conditions: Must be able to work inside or outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold.
Frequent exposure to noise and vibration. Must be able to distinguish emergency and other alarms and respond according to prescribed procedures.
