Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Automation Technical Professional - Analyzers to be located at our Wood office in Houston, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead Analyzer Consulting to support Chemical, Oil, & Gas client implementation of complex Analytical Systems. Consulting will be required on both operating facilities complex Analyzers, as well as implementation of Complex Analyzers for new or modified facilities.
  • Assess deviations from industry practice, client specifications/standards, and regulatory requirements. Includes review of discipline design drawings, calculations, specifications, and other documents. Identify and assess deviations to standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Steward discipline engineering queries from third party contractor and sub-contractors as well as technical information requests.
  • Provide technical knowledge and understanding of the design and implementation of analyzer systems including analyzer shelters and houses.
  • Provide analyzer engineering support to daily plant operations (e.g. modifications, upgrades, new construction, and applications)
  • Perform design verifications and fitness-for-service assessments of existing analyzer systems following modifications and improvements as part of the site's Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Provide technical support to incident response, abnormal and non-routine operations (ANRO) events, and turn-around activities related to complex Analyzers.





QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering specialty, advanced degree preferred (M.S., PhD) in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of industry experience with at least 5 years of experience in a lead analyzer engineering role, supervising, leading and guiding analyzer design and implementation.
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to use and troubleshoot a variety of on-line process analytical technologies including but not limited to the following: Gas Chromatography; Molecular spectroscopy (IR, UV/Vis, Raman, TDL, etc.); Electrochemistry (pH, conductivity, specific ion, etc.); Physical property analyzers (viscosity, density, vapor pressure, color, etc.); Sample conditioning systems; Manual sample collection stations; Analyzer shelters.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of analyzer engineering design standards, specifications, applicable codes, and appropriate safety criteria.
  • Experience with the design of analyzer shelters and houses in both hazardous and non-hazardous classified areas.
  • Experience working with multiple EPCs.
  • Experience with Front-End Engineering (FEED) phases, implementation, systems testing, start-up and commissioning of analyzer systems in the oil and gas, and chemical industries.
  • Proficient knowledge of P&IDs and instrumentation/control equipment.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills.
  • Travel expected to customer locations (domestic and international) for project implementation (25%).
