Position Overview

The Director, Educational Content is responsible for ensuring that developmentally appropriate practice and the Teaching Strategies 'voice' are at the core of all of Teaching Strategies' products and services. The Director will act as a lead writer and will collaborate with, review, edit, and coach Teaching Strategies author team to continue our market ownership of the highest quality solutions for teachers, children, and families. S/he will lead the author team in the development of materials, products, and solutions, working directly with the Vice President, Educational Content, on product development visioning and planning. The Director will be responsible for developing and executing on a strategy that results in the delivery of the highest-quality, most effective products and solutions to Teaching Strategies customers, in keeping the company's longstanding mission and vision.

Specific roles and responsibilities:

* Collaborates with Vice President, Educational Content to deliver content needed to support product roadmap and other content driven initiatives

* Manages all Authors and Content Developers in maintaining the TS voice across product and service offerings

* Collaborates regularly with Editorial Director and Senior Director of Publishing to ensure content deliverables are achieved in a timely manner consistent with project plans and roadmap timelines

* Partners with internal teams, including Tech Development, Research, Customer Solutions and Sales/Marketing, to ensure our solutions' alignment with the needs of the field

* Develops and owns the overall strategy for content writers

* Collaborates with Director of Research to oversee all product-focused research and content pilots

* Manages outside writing consultants as necessary to supplement writing team's expertise and bandwidth when appropriate

* Sets the standard for ensuring the highest quality of content and written materials across products and service offerings

* Provides content knowledge and expertise to projects and initiatives company-wide

* Represents TS at national conferences and in customer-facing and/or policy meetings as needed

Qualifications (e.g. Education, Certifications, Experience Level):

This position requires an extremely motivated, talented and flexible individual who is an outstanding communicator, has deep knowledge of TS products and the field of early childhood education, has solid organizational abilities with attention to detail, and who is capable of effectively articulating links between content development, technology and print products, and the needs of the early childhood educators.

* Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or related field; Master's preferred

* Three to five years teaching experience in early childhood classrooms; additional experience in early childhood program leadership/administration and adult education preferred

* Demonstrated ability to effectively work with internal staff in order to maintain a results-driven, team-oriented environment

* Adaptability and an openness to change thinking based on market needs

* Strong writing skills

* Effective organizational skills

* Deep knowledge of Teaching Strategies products

* Creativity and the ability to resolve problems and exploit market opportunities

* Comprehension of the challenges and best practices of producing curriculum and assessment materials at the forefront of the field of early childhood education
