Best Buy is seeking a distinguished change catalyst to join our thriving, creative, and energetic Agile & Product Practices movement. Best Buy has shown it can pivot, iterate, and respond to change, and this Coach will help maintain momentum as we imagine what’s possible in enriching lives through technology. As a Principal Agile Coach on our Agile and Product Practices team, you will probe, sense, and respond alongside leaders facing some of the most complex opportunities in North American retail and technology. You will lead as an example among talented creatives, business people, product gurus, data heads, and technologists in increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous times. You will foster a culture of positive change and growth by coaching, facilitating, training, and mentoring a wide range of clients at every elevation, including but not limited to large company divisions, Product Groups, multi-functional groups of both Product and non-Product teams, Executives, Senior Leaders, and numerous stakeholders across the company. Principal Agile Coaches are distinct from our other coaches in that they often work with the most complex and uncertain problems in the company, pivot and context switch more often, and must build rapport for collaboration and change quickly. These coaches will serve in rapidly shifting contexts with the potential for frequent pivots and must be highly self-directed, acting and deciding with minimal supervision and prescription. This coach will see the widest range of Agile acumen and handle the gamut from complete novice to the most seasoned technical experts. WHAT YOU’LL DO AT BEST BUY...

  • Pivot and grapple with uncertainty as markets, trends, teams, leaders, and the environment shift. Principal Agile Coaches are central to early stage transformations and areas of disruption and as such must be particularly adept at responding to change in their workloads and client needs.

  • Get empirical and build shared understanding in numerous areas of the business and between them, from prioritizing at the correct elevation to identifying value streams, from improving how product discovery happens to be improving CI/CD, and beyond. You’ll help everyone to be more clear, focused, and driven in pursuit of the most valuable experiments.

  • Collaborate closely with other coaches. Our Agilists aren’t only former scrum masters, but practitioners from a wide variety of disciplines, including software development, service design, UX, consulting, management, and beyond. We pair, learn, support, and grow together, regardless of what part of the company we serve.

  • Lead in a highly visible way, demonstrating Best Buy’s Values and Way We Lead behaviors. You will mentor and train other Agile Coaches and will strive to be actively engaged in coaching connects and forums with your peer group to drive changes and positive outcomes to advance Agile and Product Practices at Best Buy.

  • Up level everyone around them and the organization by serving as an exemplary individual contributor with deep expertise in several Agile-Lean areas, such as Scrum, Kanban, Change Management, Design Thinking, BDD, CI/CD, DevOps, XP, Lean, Innovation, and/or additional similar disciplines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience working in several Agile environments with a deep ability to articulate the difference between Agile as a successful growing practice versus Agile as a business bumper sticker 

  • 6+ years of experience as a change agent from a specific discipline such as Agile

  • Coaching, leadership, organizational change/development, or similar roles 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 8+ years of experience coaching

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills 

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence change at all levels 

  • Experience in facilitating change, including collaboration with management and executive stakeholders 

  • Strong experience with software used to manage Agile work including JIRA, Confluence, Rally, Version One, or similar software 

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent experience

  • An in-depth knowledge of the retail industry, customer, and technology trends

  • Exceptional ability to positively surface impediments, create shared understanding, and support others through cycles of change

  • Functional understanding of modern software development and optimizing for the whole
