We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced State Regulatory Affairs Director with a strong background in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry to lead our government relations efforts at the state level. As the State Regulatory Affairs Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping legislative and regulatory policies that impact the HVAC industry in general, while advocating for the interests of Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) more specifically.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop and implement comprehensive state government affairs strategies tailored to the unique needs and challenges of the Baltimore Aircoil Company and the HVAC industry.
Monitor, analyze, and track state legislative and regulatory proposals related to mechanical and plumbing codes, performance and safety standards, energy efficiency, environmental regulations, and other relevant areas.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including state legislators, regulatory agencies, engineering societies, industry associations, trade groups, and advocacy organizations.
Advocate for the company's positions on legislative and regulatory issues through advocacy, coalition-building, and grassroots mobilization efforts.
Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, regulatory affairs, engineering, marketing, and sales, to align government affairs strategies with business objectives.
Represent the company's interests at hearings, meetings, and other forums, and effectively communicate the company's perspective on relevant policy matters.
Develop and maintain a network of external consultants, lobbyists, and subject matter experts to support the company's advocacy efforts.
Prepare and present written materials, including policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials, to support the company's government affairs initiatives.
Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on legislative and regulatory developments, potential risks, and opportunities.
Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging issues that may impact the HVAC industry and the company's business interests.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, law, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. In addition, an engineering or technical background is a plus.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, public policy, or related roles, with a focus on the HVAC industry preferred.
In-depth understanding of state legislative and regulatory processes, with demonstrated experience working directly with state governments, legislators, and regulatory agencies.
Strong knowledge of HVAC codes, standards, energy efficiency initiatives, environmental regulations, and other relevant policies affecting the industry.
Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and develop proactive advocacy strategies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it effectively to internal and external audiences.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
Willingness to travel as needed.
