Job Description

As a Field Service Technician, your primary responsibility is troubleshooting your customer's service needs and providing the best possible solution.  You will maintain rapport with customers, ensure your personal equipment is in good working order and document any service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs and records.  Occasionally you will be asked to perform various installations of garage doors, openers and their various components/accessories.

 

Job Responsibilities

    


As a Field Service Technician, you will service existing accounts by analyzing work orders, investigating complaints and resolving problems.


  • Ordering and gathering components and parts

  • Servicing/repairing garage doors and openers

  • Replace springs, track, sections, and cables

  • Changing out photo eyes, track brackets and lower components of door requires technician to work from stooped or bent position

  • Service to garage door openers requires working from ladder with opener at eye level or higher.

  • Performing acceptance tests

  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle

  • Completion of required administrative duties/paperwork

  • Suggesting improved methods and techniques to customers regarding door care and operation

  • Recommending system improvements to customers

  • Keeping service information confidential

  • Participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications to stay current on your technological knowledge 

 

Skills/Experience Requirements


  • 6 month -1 year related installation or construction experience

  • Excellent telephone, written and verbal communication skills while interfacing with all levels of staff and customers.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

  • Basic math skills required.  

  • Ability to read a tape measure and convert nominal measurements

  • Willingness to learn product and processes.

  • Must have valid DL

Educational Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED

Physical/Work Environment Requirements


  • Ability to work in outside weather conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

  • Repetitive standing, lifting, reaching, bending, climbing, & kneeling

  • Working on ladders at varying heights.
