Job Summary:

Our clients are large health care systems and hospitals.  We work with them to on-board and process data to improve their clinical documentation and revenue cycle processes and outcomes.  The person hired for the position of Healthcare Business Analyst will work within a cross-functional team to load, process, QA & deliver clinical and financial reports to external clients.  This individual will also participate in data intake discussions with external clients and assisting with data mapping.  The individual hired will work with external clients, and 3M consulting, sales and development teams to identify enhance the customer's experience, improve existing processes and enhance the product offering.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Demonstrates high degree of proficiency with data extracts from a variety of sources

  • Applies analytical skills to identify and interpret data trends and statistical outcomes generated from client and 3M systems

  • Compiles reports and presentations based on analysis of client data

  • Creates and maintains relationships with customers by understanding, anticipating, and identifying their product and service needs

  • Determines non-routine and difficult customer inquiries; adapts differing techniques and methods to develop solutions for a variety of complex issues

  • Identifies areas of opportunity to improve communication, the efficiency of operations, and customer satisfaction to strengthen the 3M/customer partnership

  • Uses customer service theories and practices to provide guidance and/or training to co-workers within the same or job-related workgroup on moderately complex duties

  • Prioritizes and executes analyses for data reporting

  • Participates in and may lead project team meetings

  • Participates actively in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards, complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M values and ethical standards.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution OR a High School Diploma/GED from and accredited institution and four (4) years of healthcare experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree education requirement

  • Minimum of three (3) years in a provider or payor healthcare setting in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Possess skills in data collection and analysis

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL and other relational databases

  • Demonstrate the ability to improve on these skills through career development activities

  • Consulting experience or comparable experience that demonstrates expert skills in healthcare data analysis

  • Demonstrated skills in technically sound oral and written communications

  • Demonstrated medical terminology competence

  • Proven track record in successful client relationships

  • Proven track record in successfully dealing with high profile and/or problematic clients.

  • Team player who can function in a totally independent role requiring minimal to no supervision

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
