Department OverviewThe WGBH Digital Services team serves as the Foundation's digital strategy, product and operations team. We work closely with and support many groups throughout the WGBH Educational Foundation, including our national productions, education team, children's productions, local content units as well as donation marketing, sponsorship and fundraising. Our purpose is to develop and execute digital strategies and produce media-rich products for the production units including web sites, responsive sites, games, apps, videos and more. The digital services team is also responsible for developing and supporting Foundation-wide digital platforms, infrastructure and services that serve the digital strategies of all content and business units.Position OverviewThis position is designed to support, through podcasting, WGBH's mission to be at the forefront of reimagining public media to engage a larger, more diverse audience while also deepening the relationship with our existing audiences. This role includes developing new podcast productions from across the Foundation's content, journalism and production units to thrive in a digitally disrupted, on-demand universe.
The Senior Producer oversees the majority of WGBH's national and local podcasts, and is focused on building out the size and diversity of our audience through podcasts. A significant amount of this role's focus will be on new podcast development and in managing processes and paths necessary to build a successful program. The Senior Producer will spend a great deal of time developing and harnessing a network of contacts to identify new talent, including potential content partnerships. Additionally, the Senior Producer will work closely with production teams managing WGBH's current podcast portfolio.
The success of WGBH's podcasting program will depend on great content. The Senior Producer provides editorial leadership over the entire portfolio and ensures it meets standards that are focused first and foremost on our audiences. The Senior Producer will envision and develop a portfolio that ensures that we are informing, entertaining, delighting and surprising our audiences. Further, they will build upon and expand the strong brand affinity, trust and engagement that has been the hallmark of WGBH's production units.
Position Responsibility:
* Lead the development of new podcasts and adaptation of podcast derivatives of broadcast programs in assigned portfolio including hiring, nurturing, and managing lead producers, journalists, and hosts.
* Work collaboratively with broadcast and digital producers in production units on designing, developing, vetting and validating new podcast productions
* Work closely with podcast management team to manage budgeting for podcasts including personnel and non-salary expenses, studio expenses and third-party contractors.
* Serve as editorial and programming leader for all podcasts in assigned portfolio.
* Provide the overall editorial vision for WGBH's podcast program.
* Work closely with Fundraising, Membership and Digital teams to facilitate and support new and existing monetization strategies/
* Play a lead role along with other members of the Podcast steering committee to develop a strategic plan for podcasts that align with and support WGBH's overall strategic plans
* Support the ongoing work of Fundraising departments by contributing to proposals and meeting with potential donors or foundations as required
* Serve as a key member of the WGBH Digital leadership team;
* Work collaboratively with digital leadership team to ensure alignment with digital product development and content strategies.
* Develop a pipeline of new talent and projects that ensures we have new, fresh and engaging programming.
* Manage direct staff and collaborative production staff by providing work direction, coaching, mentorship, and on-going feedback.
* Foster agile partnerships with external producers and institutions to accelerate WGBH's evolution as a leader in the podcast space.
* Represent the portfolio, podcasting and content development initiatives at industry meetings and conferences and with the press.
* Other duties as assigned.

Skills Required* 5+ years of relevant work experience in broadcast radio, podcasting, or digital audio, including program development or management. News journalism experience preferred.
* 3+ years of supervisory/management experience.
* Ability to create a culture of accountability, high standards, transparency and collaboration.
* Demonstrated ability to teach, inspire and lead.
* Demonstrated commitment to to audience-focused values
* Leadership qualities of presence, confidence, judgment and integrity.
* Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
* Demonstrated understanding of broadcasting (radio and TV, commercial and public), digital media, podcast industry, and emerging communication technologies.
* Experience developing and nurturing new programs, especially in the podcast space.
* Strong people manager with experience supporting talent and developing leaders.
* Ability to motivate and manage staff and production partners; proven ability to nurture diversity.
* Proven strategic thinking, budget development, prioritization and management skills.
* A strong team orientation with ability effectively communicate at all levels with clients, production partners, agencies, staff, senior management, peers and industry colleagues.
