Job Description:
Overview We are seeking a JPPS Ground Systems Engineer in Greenbelt, MD for our support of the Omnibus Multidiscipline Engineering Services II (OMES-II) contract with NASA at Peraton.

Responsibilities What you'll do...
  • Oversee the development, installation, integration and testing of new hardware and software with focus on the science data processing within the JPSS ground system
  • Support the engineering design of a Telemetry and Command Ground System that supports the science data
  • Provide oversight of the software development, integration and test of a Telemetry and Command (T&C) Ground System, particularly the stored mission data (Science Data)
  • Support the flight software database and table management
  • Support the analysis of the data stream as received from the spacecraft
  • Basic understanding of Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) data formats
  • Support software reviews conducted by the developers.
  • Analyze dropped data packets for determining error sources and minimizing effects on science data processing.

Qualifications You'd be a great fit if...
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and at least 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • You have had 3+ years of experience with using and understanding of basic system engineering concepts:
    • Design Definition
    • Requirements Development
    • Concept of Operations
    • Verification Planning
  • 3+ years of experience in the design and development of ground systems with emphasis on:
    • Communications and test
    • Spacecraft command, control, and communication
    • Front-end parsing and packaging of science data
    • Analysis of frame and package drops
